Event Overview
Open to any yacht that can safely sail offshore, the Pursuit is a 26 mile sailing marathon where yachts start at intervals based broadly on their Portsmouth Yardstick. The aim is to round the Hand Deeps Buoy (west of the Eddystone) before finishing back in Plymouth Sound.
Whatever your reservations, this is not a race, it's a fun chase. For the slowest boats start times are around 9.00am onwards, with the fastest starting up to four hours later. But don't worry, those quick cats may well fall foul of decreasing winds, so it could go the other way. Whatever the weather gods throw, a little sun and a well stocked galley will transform this into a day to remember....................please enter!!

"...participating yachts from a wide social spectrum....."
Supervised by Plymouth's historic Royal Western Yacht Club, who became pioneers of short-handed off-shore sailing when they instigated the single-handed Transatlantic Race in 1960, its smooth running is assured. The Club also hosts the evening's prize giving, supper and entertainment.
