History
From its small beginnings eight years ago, The Eddystone Charity Sailing Pursuit has emerged as one of the most successful fixtures on the South-West yachting calendar.
This uncomplicated fun day, born out of one woman's desire to give something back to those less fortunate, has continued to grow and from it's early days has always attracted a large and diverse fleet. Which, in the past, has ranged from Open 60's to the regular small keel boats entries, the majority naturally being a variety of cruising and racing yachts. But, what is important, is that those who own boats and love sailing have always been made welcome, and that's why this unique charity event has continued to grow.
"..........The event has inspired many sailors who have never previously entered a competitive event, to set sail in order to raise money for their favoured charity..........."
This special experience has demonstrated the accessibility of sailing to a wide audience, and their willingness to use the sport to benefit others. The 2008 Eddystone Pursuit raised approximately £30,000 for 26 South-West based charities. A fun day out on the water, with a very worthwhile outcome.
